In an earlier discussion on international travel with pets, microchipping requirements for the European Union were outlined in detail here.

Australia is another country that requires microchipping of all imported dogs and cats. If you are planning to travel to Australia, the animal must be microchipped before it receives its rabies vaccinations, typically 210 days before scheduled travel. Section 4 requires microchip identfiication fo the animal, and states that TROVAN is one of the acceptable microchip types.
